Firmware

Every firmware release we publish, and what each one changes. Only the newest version of each is listed.

Before you flash anything: Custom firmware is provided as-is, will likely void your warranty, and may affect compliance with local regulations. Display firmware can be backed up first and the guide walks you through it. Motor controller firmware cannot be read off the bike at all, so the factory image published below is the only way back.

Motor controller

Changes how the bike delivers power. Flashed over Bluetooth, with no cable and nothing to take apart.

You do not need to download anything. The guide reads your bike, offers the releases that fit it, and fetches the package for you. Downloads are here for people who want to inspect a package or flash it using the manual file selector.

Release v1.0.8Reports 203Experimental

Reduced high-speed throttle current rolloff in mode 4

Download
Release details
Released
9/5/2026

Increases acceleration and top speed in mode 4. Once installed, the bike reports controller version 203.

Features

  • Raises the throttle speed-target multiplier from 9× to 12×
  • Uses factory throttle current scaling below 13 km/h and holds factor 200 at and above it
  • Disables field weakening at all vehicle speeds

Compatibility

Built from the stock US controller 202 image for the SUPER73 ZX. Requires a motor controller reporting a 20X version and controller variant 232.

Changelog

v1.0.8

  • Raised the held mode 3/7 throttle current factor from 173 to 200 and moved the cutoff to 13 km/h, where the stock table reaches 200. This avoids an upward step at the cutoff and raises the high-speed current ceiling by approximately 16%.
  • Kept the 12× throttle speed target, factory response rates, and disabled field weakening unchanged. This experimental setting may reintroduce cutouts; revert to v1.0.7 if they return.

v1.0.7

  • Raised the shared throttle speed-target multiplier from 9× to 12×, including internal modes 3 and 7. Caps the target at 32,767 to prevent signed wraparound.
  • Kept the v1.0.6 current factor of 173, factory throttle response rates, and disabled field weakening. This experiment raises requested speed at partial throttle too; it does not guarantee a 30 mph top speed.

v1.0.6

  • Moved the throttle current taper cutoff to 15 km/h, raising the held factor from 108 to 173. This experimental setting may reintroduce full-throttle cutouts.

v1.0.5

  • Held the mode 3/7 throttle current factor at 108 above 24 km/h instead of allowing it to taper toward 70
  • Restored factory speed-dependent current scaling in the primary assist path

v1.0.4

  • Restored factory speed-dependent throttle current scaling to prevent full-throttle overcurrent cutouts

v1.0.3

  • Restored the factory throttle response rates to avoid excessive current ramp under full throttle
  • Disabled field weakening to test its interaction with full-throttle current demand

v1.0.2

  • Corrected controller version 203 reporting over BLE while leaving the diagnostic SDO version unchanged

v1.0.1

  • Restored normal operating-mode selection from the display
  • Added equal low- and high-speed throttle response rates to modes 3 and 7
  • Bypassed speed-dependent current scaling for primary assist and mode 3/7 throttle
  • Restored the factory q-axis current-command filter

Removes the EU speed limits and opens up the current envelope

Released

The EU 404 firmware pins the controller in its own internal mode 4 and caps pedal assist at 24 km/h and throttle at 6 km/h. This release keeps that mode and removes the caps. The display will keep showing Mode 1, because that is how it labels the controller’s internal mode 4. Ride behavior is what changes.

Features

  • Raises the pedal-assist speed limit from 24 km/h to 255 km/h
  • Raises the throttle speed limit from 6 km/h to 255 km/h
  • Stretches the speed-dependent current envelope to twice the speed, so the current available at 30 km/h matches what the factory image allows at 15 km/h
  • Uses the full current envelope on the throttle instead of 85 percent
  • Removes the throttle target-speed ceiling
  • Disables field weakening at all vehicle speeds

Once installed, the bike reports controller version 405.

Compatibility

Built from the stock EU controller 404 image for the SUPER73 ZX. Requires a motor controller reporting a 40X version and controller variant 233.

Changelog

v1.0.1

  • Removed the 24 km/h pedal-assist and 6 km/h throttle speed limits
  • Replaced the fixed maximum-current envelope with a speed-stretched envelope to avoid full-throttle overcurrent cutouts
  • Used the full current envelope on the throttle instead of 85 percent

  • Pedal-assist speed ceilings are raised to match the throttle ceiling
  • Maintains stronger motor power at higher speeds
  • Shows 5.15.16 as the version number

Compatibility

For bikes running motor-controller firmware 5.15.11 or an earlier release of this patch.

Changelog

v1.0.6

  • Raise all four package and image version values to 5.15.16
  • Keep all ten per-level PAS ceilings and the global PAS ceiling at 99 km/h
  • Remove the field-weakening enable and polarity instruction patches, restoring the stock-disabled field-weakening path
  • Keep the 3000 RPM motor-speed ceiling and 100% speed-power bounds

What this is

The factory 310 image exactly as shipped, packaged so the same tools can flash it. Nothing about it is modified.

When to use it

Flash this to undo a custom release and return the controller to factory behaviour. It appears in the guide’s firmware list alongside custom releases.

Controller firmware cannot be read off the bike, so this is the factory image rather than a backup of your own bike. It restores you to stock only if your bike started on a version it replaces.

About

This is the first custom firmware for the Diamond Display. It’s based on NRF version 221122, which is the “torque update”. It’s patched to default startup in mode 4 (off road mode), instead of mode 2 (US Only, for now). Additionally, this firmware has been patched with a new public key (SuperDuper Skeleton Key) to allow for future patch updates to be applied via Bluetooth.

Finally, the word “versions” on the display’s settings menu that shows the version numbers has been patched to show “versionz” in order to visually verify the patches have been applied.

This firmware will not accept future official updates from Super73.

Compatibility

This firmware should work on any display that is already running NRF version 221122. However, it may work on earlier versions as well. If you try it out, let us know how it goes in the Discord server!
